There were more big moments in mining hi-vis as Voice for Mining Family Day returned to the NRL in 2021, recognising mining families and all the good things mining brings to NSW.
This year, the Newcastle Knights wore the famous hi-vis mining jersey in Round 4 when they took on the St George-Illawarra Dragons.
NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS v ST GEORGE-ILLAWARRA DRAGONS
McDonald Jones Stadium
Kick-off 4:05pm, Sunday 4 April 2021
Voice For Mining Family Day brings together thousands of miners and their families with Knights supporters to celebrate two great teams; the Newcastle Knights and our NSW miners.
Mining and rugby league share a strong connection. Both consist of hard-working people who look out for their mates and play an important role in the community.
First held in 2013, this is one of the biggest community events on the calendar in the Hunter Valley with thousands of people wearing hi-vis colours in support of the Newcastle Knights in the replica mining hi-vis jersey.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is the official charity partner for the event and Newcastle Knights club legend Kurt Gidley is this year's ambassador for the mining round.
This event and all NSW Minerals Council events will be held in accordance with all relevant NSW Government COVID-19 rules and restrictions to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved.
