NSW Minerals Council - Industry events

The NSW mining industry’s top priority remains a healthy workforce as we continue safe operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. To find out how our industry is responding to the virus, please go to the dedicated COVID-19 page on our website.  Due to the current ban on public gatherings and the uncertainty around when these rules may be relaxed for events into the future, it has been determined that NSW Minerals Council will not be proceeding with our planned events this year. It will affect the following events which were due to be held in 2020: 

• The NSW Mining Industry & Suppliers Annual Dinner and Awards (Sydney)
• The NSW Women in Mining Awards (Sydney)
• The NSW Mining Exploration and Tenures Forum (Sydney)
• Voice for Mining Family Day (Newcastle)
• The NSW Mining HSEC Conference and Awards (Hunter Valley)

We apologise for not being able to proceed with the events as planned. This decision has been taken in line with public health advice and current government restrictions on public gatherings, as well as with everyone’s health and safety in mind.

HSEC Awards

The 2020 Health, Safety, Environment and Community Excellence Awards will not proceed this year. If you’ve started working on an entry in one of our four categories, these awards will be back in 2021 and we would ask you to submit your entry next year. 

Voice for Mining Family Day

We love supporting the Newcastle Knights. And we appreciate all the support the Newcastle Knights and their players have given us and our mining families over the years.  The team will still play in the replica hi-vis jersey later this year should the NRL be able to re-commence its season.  However, due to public gathering rules, we don’t think it will be possible for mining families and footy fans to join together at McDonald Jones Stadium for Voice for Mining Family Day, originally scheduled for Sunday 28 June. We remain committed to working with the Knights to find another date in late 2020, should circumstances allow. You can still support two great teams - the Newcastle Knights and our NSW mining families - by signing up to be part of Voice for Mining.
