We care about the community and we’re working hard to help increase Aboriginal economic participation so that we all share in the benefits that come from the responsible development of mining.

We’ve worked with the NSW Government to develop a plan for increasing Aboriginal participation in mining, signing an historic agreement in June 2013. We’ll be putting training and employment initiatives into practice across regional NSW to help kick-start Aboriginal businesses in our industry.

Individual mining operations across NSW are making contributions to the skills and employment prospects of Aboriginal communities, through early childhood education programs, high school mentoring and training for skills needed for work in mining, to name a few. Many of our mines also undertake cross-cultural training for their employees to raise awareness of Aboriginal culture and heritage.
