NSW Mining 2018 Industry and Suppliers’ Award Winners Announced


The contribution of the NSW mining industry to our state was recognised at NSW Parliament tonight with representatives of the NSW mining industry and mining supplier businesses joining with over 40 MPs at the 2018 Industry and Suppliers Awards Dinner.


NSW Minister for Resources, Energy, Utilities and the Arts Don Harwin welcomed the 300 guests to the dinner, praising the contribution made to the NSW economy and regional communities by the NSW mining industry, the thousands of NSW mining supplier businesses, and the more than 40,000 people working in the industry across the state.


NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Skills and Small Business John Barilaro, delivered the dinner’s keynote address, highlighting the importance of mining in fostering the growth and strength of regional communities. Deputy Premier Barilaro also spoke of the critical importance of the mining industry to the NSW economy.


The NSW Mining Industry & Suppliers Awards, presented by Minister Harwin, recognised excellence in the sector and emphasised the continued importance of the supply chain to the industry.


“Our Industry and Suppliers’ Awards highlights the vital role mining plays in NSW, particularly our economic contribution.  We had some outstanding entries for the awards this year, reflecting the quality of our State’s world class mining sector. ” NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee said following the Awards.


“The contribution made by our industry is very important to NSW. Coal, copper and gold are our State’s most valuable exports, and almost everyone in NSW relies on us every day for electricity generated by coal supplied by our sector to power stations across the State.”
