Industry & Suppliers Conference showcases the NSW mining industry

May 12, 2016

Federal Minister for Resources and Energy The Hon. Josh Frydenberg MP will deliver the keynote address at this year's NSW Mining Industry and Suppliers Conference, joining a range of industry and business leaders gathering to focus on the contribution of mining in NSW.
This year’s Industry and Suppliers Conference, to be held at State Parliament, will showcase the people and businesses that are vital to the success of the mining industry in NSW.
“Our Industry and Suppliers’ Conference provides an excellent opportunity to examine the role of mining in NSW, particularly our economic contribution,” NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee said today.
“Whether it be those working directly in mining, or others employed in the many mining supplier businesses across NSW, tens of thousands of people rely on our industry for their jobs.
“With coal, copper and gold our state’s most valuable exports, NSW also relies on mining for the trading opportunities these resources bring, as well as the royalty income mining delivers to the state budget. And almost everyone in NSW relies on our sector every day for the electricity generated by the coal we provide to the state’s power stations.
Other speakers at the Conference include Stephen Hulton, Asia Pacific Mining & Metals Research Director for Wood Mackenzie. Stephen will focus on key forecasts for vital NSW commodities such as coal and mineral sands in a national and global market context.
Christine Gibbs Stewart, CEO of Austmine, will deliver an address on the vital role suppliers play in the mining industry in NSW, as well as how NSW mining equipment, technology and services companies can grasp the major export opportunities available in the global marketplace.
Additionally, a panel discussion amongst senior women in the mining industry will take place, emphasising the crucial role that women play in every facet of the industry in NSW.
“The contribution of women who work in mining, including at senior levels, will be a highlight of the Conference,” Mr Galilee said.
