Focus on compliance, community and environment at Exploration Forum

Compliance, community engagement and environmental management will be at the forefront of this year’s NSW Minerals Council Mining Exploration Forum.

The Forum, to be held at State Parliament on 4th of May, will bring together explorers from across NSW for discussions on exploration issues facing the industry.
Paul Heithersay, Deputy Chief Executive of the South Australian Department of State Development, will deliver the keynote address to the Forum.
Senior NSW Bureaucrats Kylie Hargreaves, Claudia Huertas and Lee Shearer of the NSW Division of Resources and Energy will participate in a forum on the balance needed for growth and responsibility in the industry.
“The exploration sector is critical to the future success of mining in NSW, and the long term economic future of much of regional NSW. That’s why it’s so important to support exploration through events such as this,” NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee said today.
“It’s an opportunity to get develop a better u​nderstanding of the issues and identify h​ow we can move forward together as a unified sector in the best interests of NSW.”
The 2016 Explorer of the Year Award will be p​resented b​y NSW Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy, The Hon. Anthony Roberts MP. This year’s finalists include :

●  Thomson Resources Limited
●  Impact Minerals Limited
●  Heron Resources Limited
“The development of new minerals projects are essential to the ongoing economic strength of much of regional NSW. This year’s Exploration Forum highlights the need for exploration to identify the minerals projects of the future,” Mr Galilee said.
