2016 Health, Safety, Environment & Community Conference

Mon 29 August - Wed 31 August

Over 400 miners, professionals and industry leaders will gather in the Hunter from today to discuss important issues facing the industry, at the NSW Minerals Council’s 2016 Health, Safety, Environment and Community Conference (HSEC).

The NSW mining industry's flagship event for 2016 features a range of speakers from industry and government, and will deliberate forward-thinking ideas and innovations in workplace health and safety, community relations, and environmental management.

“This important annual event brings our industry together to discuss shared challenges, identify innovation, and celebrate excellence,” NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee said today.

Dan Gregory will deliver the conference's keynote address. A regular on ABC's Gruen Transfer, Gregory is an expert in communication and will build delegates' capacity to engage effectively with colleagues, the community, regulators and other businesses

One of Australia’s leading dietitians, Dr Trent Watson of Ethos Health, will launch the NSW mining industry’s obesity management and reduction blueprint. As the industry continues to ensure workers health remains at the forefront of its priorities, the obesity blueprint will lay out a plan that helps our workforce remain healthy and happy.

A highlight of the conference will be our NSW Mining Health, Safety, Environment & Community Awards, showcasing the best examples of industry leading  practices, systems, programs and innovations from across the industry in NSW.

The conference program also includes presentations from regulators, industry case studies and experts in the fields of health, safety, environmental management and community engagement.
