Knights continue winning streak in second high-vis tribute to NSW Miners

June 30, 2014

The Newcastle Knights, sponsored by NSW Mining, ended the Parramatta Eel’s unbeaten run at Pirtek Stadium for round 16 yesterday with a thrilling 16-10 victory.
This is the second appearance of the Knights high-vis replica miners jerseys, in partnership with NSW Mining, in support of the thousands of miners who work hard “365 days and Knights” to power homes and businesses in Sydney and across NSW.
And that was the message to the community in this advertisement in The Sunday Telegraph, showing that mining is indeed relevant to the people of Sydney and an essential service.

On the back of the triumph over the Eels, the Knights have now moved up to 14th position on the NRL table, and fans are feeling positive about the rest of the season after back-to-back wins following their triumph over the Cowboys in round 15. Coach Wayne Bennett says the commitment of the team in tough times has helped build to these back-to-back wins.
To help promote the game and the importance of our NSW Miners, competitions have been held on Sydney radio stations Triple M and 2GB with winners joining us at Pirtek Stadium where they met NRL hero Danny Buderus, best known as captain of the Newcastle Knights until his retirement last year and as a legend of the NSW State of Origin team.
Our high-vis replica miners jerseys have had a significant impact with fans and miners alike and is one of the club’s best sellers right now. The good news is there’s still time to buy one before they sell out for yourself or a big Knights fan you know, by purchasing online from the Hunter sports store here
And jerseys worn by the team against the Parramatta Eels are available to buy in an online auction underway until this Thursday 3rd July
