Finalists announced for the 2014 NSW Women in Mining Awards

February 27, 2014

After a record numbers of nominations, the finalists are being announced for the 2014 NSW Women in Mining Awards.

The high calibre of the finalists is a testament to the achievements of the women in our industry across a range and the growing interest in our awards program. The finalists are from mining regions right across NSW, from both mining companies and associated industries.

Women play an increasingly invaluable role in NSW mining, which has long been thought of as a male dominated industry. Women are employed in engineering, management, logistics, accounting and many other professions at mine sites right across NSW. The results of a survey about women in mining in NSW will be released at the Awards Dinner in Sydney on 6 March.

The awards, proudly sponsored by BHP Billiton NSW Energy Coal, recognise the achievements of women in NSW mining in various stages of their careers, as well as company initiatives that support or retain women working in mining.

Winners will be announced on 6 March at the 2014 NSW Women in Mining Awards dinner in Sydney, sponsored by Northparkes Mines, where the achievements of all the nominees will be celebrated.

Keynote speaker at the dinner will be the inspirational 2012 Young Australian of the Year Marita Cheng, thanks to Glencore.
