Celebrating success at 2014 Hunter Business Awards

August 07, 2014

Leading local businesses will be recognised at this week’s Hunter Business Awards in Newcastle.

Firms from the health, mining, manufacturing, finance, tourism, education and professional services sectors are among 32 finalists in awards program run by the Hunter Business Chamber, a NSW Minerals Council member.

The NSW Minerals Council is again proud to support this event, sponsoring the Excellence in Business (20+) category. Pacific Smiles Group was last year’s winner for its commitment to the delivery of excellence in patient care and customer service.

The Hunter Business Awards are a great way to recognise the local businesses in the region, who contribute to the community and help to keep the Hunter economy thriving. Mining is an important part of the local economy and accounts for around 35% of Gross Regional Product. Our miners spent $4.6 billion with 4,871 Hunter businesses supplying our NSW mines in 2012-13, which is good for local jobs and the economy.

We congratulate all of the finalists, including NSW Minerals Council member Hunter TAFE and companies supplying our industry including ARTC - Hunter Valley Division, Hunter Valley Training Company, Pegasus, Port Waratah Coal Services, Singleton Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc and UQ Power.

You can see the full list of 2014 finalists, and the awards categories plus last year’s winners on the Hunter Business Chamber’s website.
