Newspoll: Further evidence of support for mining

The NSW Minerals Council has today welcomed the results of a Newspoll in today’s Australian which shows that over two thirds of Australians support our national mining industry and a massive 96% of people believe a strong mining industry is important to the Australian economy.
Today’s Newspoll results directly corroborate research released by NSW Mining earlier this week which showed that 70% of people in NSW support the mining industry and 89% believe a strong miningindustry is important for our State’s future.
“These Newspoll results are further evidence that the general community understands the need for a strong mining industry,” NSW Minerals Council CEO, Stephen Galilee said.
“These results send a strong message to our political leaders that the majority of the community supports mining, understands its importance, and expects governments to support policies that supportmining.”
“In NSW, a new state planning system that delivers certainty is a high priority. The current planning system review is an opportunity for the NSW Government to deliver a positive outcome for our industry and other significant industries across the economy,” he said.
