Newcrest Mining
When the team at Newcrest’s Cadia gold mine realised that they had a lower-than-average female workforce, they set a plan in motion to bring about change.
After collecting data and feedback from surveys and consulting with current female workers and leaders across Newcrest, a plan was developed to tackle this issue.
The team at Cadia found that many women faced barriers when returning to work, especially after having children and trying to manage a family. To address these issues, Newcrest started a Diversity and Inclusion Program designed to create part-time work opportunities, job share arrangements and flexible start and finish times.
As a result of this strategy, Newcrest has seen huge improvements in work culture over the past 12 months.
