The NSW Mining - Mining Operation of the Year Award


The Mining Operation of the Year Award recognises the outstanding performance of a mine, minerals processing operation or other business unit associated with a mining operation.

Eligible entries may include:
  • Business improvements that support production growth or efficiency.
  • Innovation that fosters productivity, profitability or performance.
  • A project that contributes to a measurable improvement in the operation’s performance or reputation.
  • Outstanding leadership and a positive contribution to the local community or economy. 

Judging Criteria

1. Overview (10%)
  • Name of company and nominated person to receive the award and job title.
  • Overview of your business.

2. Challenges (25%)
  • What are the key challenges your operation has faced over the past 12 - 18 months. 
  • Explain your strategies to address these challenges and improve performance.
  • Tell us how you worked as a team to address these challenges, working with employees or suppliers.

3. Performance and improvement (40%)
  • Describe your business performance over the past 12 - 18 months. 
  • What measurable results improvements did you achieve in the operation’s performance or reputation?
  • What separates this mining operation or business unit from others in NSW or around Australia?
  • What have you learned over the past 12 months? How will you build on those lessons?

4. Your contribution (25%)
  • Tell us about any special partnerships you’ve contributed to in the community or local business.
  • Tell us about how your business or employees have shown leadership in business or the community.
