The coal industry takes its environmental responsibilities seriously and supports an evidence-based approach to rail corridor air quality.
The available scientific evidence
shows that air quality around the rail corridor is good and that coal trains are not having a significant impact on ambient air quality. The evidence doesn’t support myths and unsubstantiated claims
about the impact of dust from coal trains.
The industry has several initiatives underway
to improve coal train dust management and further reduce what is already a small contributor to dust in the region.
